Western Turkey Hunt- Help needed!

Postby fenderhunt4 » 12 07, 2013 •  [Post 1]

Hey all!

I could use some help getting pointed in the right direction about a merriam's or rio grande spring turkey hunt. Being from central Ohio, I'd like to keep the drive shorter if possible (so I don't really want to head all the way to western Montana or something like that!).

It would be a 4-5 day hunt for 3 of us (my 65 yr old father, my 14 yr old son, and me) we'd be interested in some archery, but being able to clean up the with a shotgun if needed. We want to have a good time together and take a stab and hunting something other than our eastern subspecies.

Does anyone have a leads on a few good places to check out first? We'd like to do some lightly pressured public land or maybe even some low cost DIY private ground.

I appreciate any feedback. Feel free to PM me if you've got any help!

Thanks!
Josh

I've got a few places that could work out if someone wanted to "trade". I know I could easily point someone to some real hot spots within some of the public ground around here too. Thanks for the suggestion.
