fall success!

Postby zpd307 » 10 08, 2014 •  [Post 1]

my goal this fall was to get each of my 3 boys out and get a turkey. I took the middle boy, he is 7, for 2 days, he has the patience of a fruit fly and can not sit still. so I took my tried and true youngest boy, he is 6, out tonight for a change of pace and got it done in 3 minutes within sitting down. but in his defense, he sat there perfectly for an hour waiting for the flock to come back and regroup. its too bad that the youth model tristar shotgun is still a tad too big for him. we had 10-15 birds come back and check out the dead turkey.....

success! 10 yard shot at another yearling. good thing, she came in, in front but he couldnt see her. she walked into the woods just off to our side. I clucked a couple of times softly and she came in behind us. she let him turn around in the loud dry leaves while just standing there. man this is fun!

that last pic is awesome. love the kid's expression..it has that S__ eating grin quality!! hhahahah..

great stuff. i have an adult buddy that cannot keep it together to take his first bird. this guy a total deer killer, but something about a bird causes him to come unglued.
