hook style wrist strap release?

Postby RichM » 09 15, 2016 •  [Post 1]

I'm starting to research a new release to replace my inexpensive Tru-ball Stinger caliper release and was hoping to get some opinions on a few.

Sorry,
I don't have any experience with those releases. I use the Tru-Fire Hardcore Buckle Fold Back. I like it because I can fold the release back out of the way and can easily flip it forward by brushing it against my leg. The only complaint I have is that the wrist strap does stretch out over time but I've yet to run out of adjustment. Good luck in your search.

I use a Quickie II. It has the trigger and hook on the same side. Better when you have a beard as it keeps the release and string from tangling in your facial hair.
Carter makes very good stuff. The Quickie series releases are so small that you can stuff it in a glove or up your sleeve to keep it out of the way when stalking or hiking. The wrist strap on them is nice and sleek too. Get the buckle strap not the velcro one. You would not be disappointed with a Quickie I or II.

I've been using this one for a couple years now. No issues. I like that it folds back out of the way. I put it on in the morning and take it off when I get back to camp at night.

I've been using the Rhino XT for several years and love it. This release will make you shoot better, it forces you to pull through the shot. If you punch the trigger it punishes you, badly.

The release is designed to have a heavy trigger pull. When I first started with the release I literally couldn't get it to go off, I thought it was broken. When I did get it to fire my point of impact was about 6 inches right of where I was aiming at 20 yards. I called Scott and told them it was broken and they explained the design and concept of the release to me, told me to stick with it for a month and if I didn't like it send it back to them and they would replace it with another model of my choice.

Light trigger's on release encourage trigger punching. You can't punch the Rhino, short of a thumb or hinge release it is, IMO, the best option for getting a clean release. If you are going to try one you will have to be committed to learning to use it and realize there will be a pretty steep learning curve.

I've been shooting the short n sweet for about 7 years and love it. Got it because I wanted to keep my draw as long as possible and was the best for the price I could find. Not one complaint in that time.
