First Lite Wool - Kanabs

Postby nobull » 04 13, 2013 •  [Post 1]

I'll be purchasing new hunt pants for early season very soon. I'm interested in the kanabs from first lite. I'm worried they'll be too hot in 80 degree temps. Anyone have any feedback or recommendations?

I didn't wear them, but my partner had them during our mid-sept elk hunt last fall. Probably not 80 degrees, but we had some warm hikes! He loves them and plans to use them in late august mule deer hunting this year. Be warned they do not dry well next to a fire--he learned the hard way

I'm not sure how durable merino wool material is for pants. Works great for shirts but seems pants get abused a lot more. I know they had some issues with the Kanab pants a couple years ago but sounds like that has been fixed.

Again, my knowledge is secondhand, but my understanding is that the pre-2012 pants were funny (really high waist I think). My buddy's were the newer design. They were impresively durable--except near fire

First Lite Wool - Kanabs

Having held them, they are very thin merino wool and should be perfect for early archery temps. I use the first lite merino wool base layers and they are awesome.

For my early season outer layer, I went with Day One Camo's Light fleece in ASAT. The merino wool and light fleece combo were perfect in all temps last season.

Hope this helps.
