http://www.schnees.com/product/STONE-GL ... ackpacking

looks interesting.

check out how the pack lifts away from your back, opening up a gap for the heavier meat on the shelf in between. barely less expensive than the "K" word..

light too! no?

what do you think?

(i'm sold on the new modular Kilfaru stuff)

I own the stone glacier terminus. I added a zipper to the bottom of the bag so it is more accessible as a day pack. This pack is made very well and I highly recommend. It is very adjustable. My hunting partner has a 21 inch torso and a lot of curve in his back. I have a 17 inch straight torso and both of us could get this pack to fit very comfortably. I've been using the pack when working out and I've had up to 95lbs in it so far. It is never easy to carry a load like that (I weigh 165lbs) but this pack makes it much easier than my old badlands and eberlestock ever did.

Actually there are so many options with Kifaru that it can go either way with price, you could go cheaper or more expensive. Rokslide has a good comparison write up and a sticky in the backcountry gear section that will give you tons of info on both companies product(s).

For a price example you can get into Kifaru for under $400 pretty easy and have a very modular setup (duplex frame $336 and HPG bag $45, the hill people gear bag was specificly designed for the Kifaru duplex, all the pics of it are on the duplex frame).

The SG seems like a good option based on the testing I read and so far most owners seem happy with it, only have seen 1 instance were the frame didn't fit a guy (24hr campfire) so that is very positive for new company/product. I also think as they grow you will seem more modular options from them such as their own version of a grabit and different pockets/bags etc.

Also, now I'm not 100% positive but I believe the SG only has 1 size belt and it doesn't fit well if you are 36" or larger but maybe that has changed. It is good though that more top end competition is in the game now, we should see much more innovation.
