Preferred fiber optic color in your sight..

Postby elkaholic » 06 12, 2013 •  [Post 1]

I prefer green pins as to red and yellow. I like them so much I mod my sights pins so that most of the ones I hunt with are green. Maybe my eyes are just weird but I can see them better during early morning and late evening shooting sessions. Currently I am shooting a MBG Rush sight and am re-arranging the pins so that Red is my 20 yrd "danger zone" pin and then the next 4 will be green followed by a yellow and red for the 70 and 80 yrd practice pins. Does anyone else do this? What colors do best for your shooting?

I can def see green best by far. I don't like the sights that are all green as I think I would use the wrong one in the heat of the moment. but just for seeing them its green

I like Red or a Reddish Orange. Green and Yellow glow too much for me and get fuzzy in the sunlight.

Are you guys shooting the long "wrapped" style fibers or the shorter 1.5- 2 in fibers?

Wrapped is the way to go.

Sometimes, wrapped can be too bright, though. But its better to be too bright than not bright enough.

I like the yellow pins myself, and the smaller, the better. And I do hate a bright pin. Truth be told, cut the fiber optics on a pin, and even if only an 1" long the pin will be bright.

Love PINK. lol Kidding of course. I like the green best. Then yellow. Mine aren't wrapped but at last light I wish they were. I use a Montana Black Gold Dusk Devil site.

Never gave it that much thought. But I soppose Green first and Red second. At least that is how they are arranged on my Flashpoint site and my eyes seem to like that.

I have 5 pins on my MBG Flashpoint, and for the life of me I couldnt tell you the order of color they are in...

All I know is top pin = 20 yds. bottom pin = 60yds :)

X3 here as well. I do prefere thinner pins for the furhter distance and larger pin for 20-30 yds.

Ha! The only reason I knew was because I got my bow down and looked at it. The top three are 20-30-40. The other two I dropped down to the bottom of the sight, out of the way, and never use them.

I find it interesting that Buglmin has a problem with the fiber optic being too bright. I am just the opposite. I have poor eyesight so my long fiber optic pins are a great asset. I would hate to go back to the sights of just 20 years ago.

red... mostly because i find i tend to actually focus on the green pin whereas i look right through the red. the green pins do seem brighter to me aswell. the orange just seem..... bland? so now all i have is the red pins.
