tomin's bow setup

Postby JJ Overkill » 06 20, 2013 •  [Post 1]

heres the setup we put together for this yrs elk season.

hes shooting a pse evo, 55# 28"dl. 436gr arrow (125gr head) = 263fps

momentum is .50873
k/e 66.285
f.o.c 14.285

im pretty sure there are one or two of you shooting something similar. if you have or are how often do you get a pass through or is it fairly difficult? I do realize that shot placement is everything but im just wondering. im more than confident in this setup but was wondering.

You should have no problem at all !! Aim straight up the leg and halfway up the body and all you have is a couple ribs to worry about. I shoot my bow at 62 lbs and can get pass through's on elk and moose. Like you said shot placement is the key. Good luck and most of all have fun !!

Sounds like your good to go! What broadhead are you shooting?

My first elk was taken with 56#@28".. 415ish grains and a 150 gr Magnus Snuffer. Shooting an estimated 220fps. Buried the arrow to the Fletch after hitting the off side shoulder on a quartering away shot.

Great choice. They can be somewhat hard to get the factory edge back on at times. I would also suggest the NAP hellrazor, Snuffer SS, or VPA's. Good luck this season!

I was really torn between the vpas and montecs for us, ( we both shot the same heads) I went with the montecs due to the fact I can get them anywhere. I prefer to sharpen them right out of the package. with some time and practice you can get them scary sharp.
