Bino systems

Postby Lefty » 06 24, 2013 •  [Post 1]

Leopold replaced my binos when i sent them in this spring to have them fixed so I now have new glasses. They came with lens covers attached to the front and a slip on cover for the back and a soft case

For 20 years my other binos sat on the dash of my pickup or hung from my shoulders with the common binocular harness.
I plan to take better care of these. I glass a lot while hunting,

So how do most of wear or carry your binos. I

Vortex Bino Harness, it keeps all the weight off your neck! You can wear them all day & never know they're there!

I agree with Paul on the bino system. Lennis Jennsen fronm Crooked Horn is a great friend of mine, and with his bino system, plus the bino pouch, your binos stay tight to your chest, protected from the elements, and the pouch aint bulky like other systems like the Badlands...its a good, simple system that works!!

I picked up a cheap bino system last year and it definitely helped. Keeps them at hand, close to your body, and much more secure.

Did the NABA Show in Reno with Lennis as my neighbor...awesome dude!

Lennis actually produced the very first bino harness...never patented the idea and many Companies have followed suit. He has some very innovative solutions for hunting and backpacking.

Lennis actually makes the bino system for Vortex, and Cabales, and lots of other companies.
Lennis is a great guy, met him in the early 90's when he was just getting started. Hunted with him several times, and called in a monster bull that left him shaking in his boots one morning...lol. The guy dont have a serious bone in his body. But his products are top notch, built to withstand anything you can put them through...if you get the chance, ask him bout the two packs I have and what I've done to them with amazing results...

do most of you leave the plastic lense covers at home?
do many of you use and like the bino covers that are attached to the binos? to the harness?

Simular harnesses had been in use for photography. My wife and her dad had been using a camera harness for their binos in the 70's

For me it's just binos and the elastic straps, no covers.

Lennis (Crooked Horn) also makes a great little lens cloth that stuffs into a little weatherproof pouch, and attaches to the harness.

I keep a lens cloth in with my calls to keep them from rattling in the container

I use the bino harness from cabelas. I like haveing them handy. I carry 10x42 leupolds and leave the top cap on at all times. I remove it to look and back on it goes. I place them on a shelf lined with felt in my hunting cabinet when not in use to cover the bottom lenses. They are always handy as are the guns :D
