Cold Shot Challenge?

Postby cnelk » 07 17, 2013 •  [Post 1]

I have a buddy in Pennsylvania and we do what we call a 'Cold Shot Challenge' to prepare for the fall hunts.

One of us picks a yardage, a position [kneeling/standing/etc] and then takes a 'cold shot' and emails the other a pic of the shot.
Sometimes we even take a short vid clip of the shot.
Then the other guy has to do the same

Its a lot of fun!
Puts a bit of pressure on the 2nd shooter... or not :)

The winner gets absolutely NOTHING!!!

Is anyone interested in doing this?

I saw something like this on another forum. They had people take a paper plate for a target, and then every day they would post the "shot of the day". People would take the shot and post a picture of it. They would take shot situations that you would encounter while elk hunting. I did not get involved, but it was cool seeing the pictures of the shots. Now that I have my range set up in the back yard, I would be in!

I guess one of these days I should join the 21 century and buy some of the new fangled equipment. Of coarse I would have to learn how to use it. I never figured out the 1960s, so I have been reluctant to advance much. Come to think of it I think I got lost with the Beatniks of the 1950s. Count me out. :(

We used to do this in elk camp. Crazy shots...leaning out on one foot off a stump, draw bow and shoot while walking, from the knees with bow canted at a 45 degree angle, through holes in the brush, limbs, etc. I think we played "horse" like in basketball (but we probably played "wapiti")

It was always a lot of fun. 8-)

We do the same thing in camp. Sometimes it gets kind of ridiculous. Lots of broken arrows.
