Game Camera insight

Postby Wahpeton » 04 23, 2017 •  [Post 1]

Time to upgrade my trail cameras. Everybody usually has an opinion on what they like, but I would also like to hear some input on what has not worked for you.

I want to replace all 4 cameras I have with the same model.

My criteria in order of importance are:
1) trigger speed (I don't want to just see butts)
2) sensing range
3) affordability

I really don't care that much about image quality, this tool to me is more about presence / absence of game.

For your criteria, the bushnell aggressor is the way to go. If you keep an eye on ebay you can find the red flash ones for $120. Detection range is almost too good, theyll pick up animals very far out. Trigger speed is great, see the lack of blurring on this leaping doe.

I do not have a one size fits all approach. At a water hole, trigger speed is not very important, but on a trail where they usually quickly pass by it is. For a water hole I will go with a slower camera, but may be concerned about how far it detects movement. Cheap cameras are often good where other hunters may see and take them. I don't care too much about high image quality either. I like to know what is coming around, but don't want to have something to frame for display.

Wawhitey,

Those photos are awesome. I will definitely look into your recommendation.

To have a trigger that's fast enough to catch that doe is quite impressive.

WOW

thanks,

Just looked online and there doesnt seem to be any good deals on them right now, but if you just check ebay every few days, eventually you should be able to find them for about $120 NIB. I want to say i even bought a few for $110 once.

I'll echo WAW recommendation. I've got 1 aggressor and have been very impressed with it. I've been using the NO GLOW version though. Battery life is equally impressive.
