What do you cats munch on the mountain? Well, besides prescription MEDs for the seasoned cats. :).

I take both of my meds in camp. In the stand I take fruit, veggies and nuts/trail mix for snacks.

Nothing beats a peanut butter sammy when your tank runs low and you need a protein & sugar fix.

I use to run into too many guys who supplement with 40, 60 or 80 proof.
I knew an old timer who in the late 60's and early 70's use to take a handful of barbiturates and a candy bar a day on his back-country Frank Church or Alaska trips.

I like some hydration drink mix. Water gets boring after awhile.

We go out in the dark and come back in the dark. We will usually bring a couple sandwiches for lunch or boil up a Mountain House. Supplement that with various bars. Our favorite is a good old Snickers bar. I can usually tell when I run out of energy that I need a little fuel. I will even take a couple of Riesens chocolates out there. I will sometimes tell myself, "when I get to the top of that ridge, I get to eat my Snickers".

try a little lemon juice with the water in your hydration bladder, I just started doing it during blacktail season, and it was a really good tip I got from someone, and it will not make a mess of your hydration bladder like some mixes will.

I pre-cook pounds of bacon and bring some in ziplock bags- it's kinda like jerky but a lot cheaper. As far as supplements, I picked up a few packs af scratch labs gummy chew things and put on between check and gum and they last 30 mins or so. Not sure if it actually does anything or if it's more of a placebo thing...

I wasn't sure what RJ was implying when he said "supplements" so before I let my trap flap I figured I better let some of you post up a few just so I got on the same page :D
Stop me if I'm on the wrong track...
For between meals I usually carry venison jerky and some trailmix (I like Kars Nuts Sweet n Salty mix in single serving packs)to munch on through out the day, and around mid morning I break out my Cliff bar which really picks me up and keeps me hopping till I get to lunch which I always wash down with 16 oz of Gatoraid that I mix up in a collapsible canteen. I put the powder in the canteen either at camp each night or I pack it in tiny zip-loc bags and toss it in my lunches when I prepare em at home.
Dried apples go a long way also for the amount of space and weight 2 apples take.

my friend takes Magnesium and Potassium supplements.

my doctor said not to..not me. she said most of what we eat, can cover that.

my friend swears it helps with cramping and muscle soreness.

i just drink the occasional Hydrate and Recover..but really diluted down in a LOT of water.
