Back country cache tents!!

Postby Lefty » 01 29, 2018 •  [Post 1]

This morning I was able to purchase two older 3 season tents
Eureka 3 man tent. lightweight and perfect for a back pack trip with my wife.
And a light weight 3-man dome tent. Both for $10.00 total. Or local Deseret Industries seems to go through a few good tents each month. they often have plenty of junk tents two. These two were a good purchase

The Eureka Ill replace the shock cord and some lightweight lines.

Lefty: How will you protect your tent from mice and other damaging elements when you cache it in the forest? Just curious, but may doo that too if I hunt an area we have had our eye on.

I have never cached a tent but I like the idea. I have done it with a few supplies in the past (trapping gear) and I stashed it in a 5 gallon bucket with a lid.

Is caching gear in the forest even legal? Swede should know. I know it used to be illegal in Colorado years ago.

Yep!! 5 gallon Bucket. Ill pack it in and maybe even use it as a Spike Camp.

Hmm could be. Maybe I'll talk to our CO and the guy that runs cows and the other three that hunt the area, just so they know its not trash left by someone and let the other hunter know they can use it if they need too.
