New toy!

Postby Roosiebull » 03 26, 2018 •  [Post 1]

Got my CZ 455 varmint all set up, it's chambered in 17hmr.

I put a Nikon prostaff Rimfire on it, 3-9x40 BDC. It also has an ultralight Harris bipod on it. Seems to shoot 5 shots into a ragged hole at 100yds, going rat shooting over east this weekend!

It is a beautiful little rifle, I will post some pics when I get home. Really fun gun.

Sweet! The .17's are a blast and so inexpensive to shoot.

I love 17's they are such good practice, and a mean little varmint round.

I have always wanted a "Pretty rifle" but I'm better suited with stainless/synthetic for my center fire rifles, the 17 won't be exposed to nasty conditions, so it was a good candidate for a nice stock and nice blued barrel

Good choice! If you learn to (or already know how) shoot that gun well, it will be an excellent sidearm.

I shoot revolvers a lot, but this will be my first super light snubbie, so there will be a learning curve. I have a kimber solo, 17oz 9mm, and i know how snappy that is. Im sure this thing will be twice as hard to shoot, even shooting .38spcl. Dont plan on shooting full on .357 with it, but i will try it just for fun.

Yep, have to at least try It!

Not long after I got my s&w 500, I had to get some 700 grainers to try, just had to, but got that out of my system pretty quick. I figured 500 grains @ 1500fps would be enough for anything I need it for ;)

357 is an ear ringer for sure. Be sure to use ear protection.

Pretty much same difference in recoil, the 460 is a tad more tame, but also more snappy to me, so I would say it's a wash.

Pretty gun, is that black aftermarket?

my hunting bud just bought a .17WMR. now i want one, and this thread is not helping.

i would go CZ as well. my other friend called asking for help with ground squirrels..it is like the stars are aligning..but sadly. i might go with my .22LR and a ground blind. :)

No trout about that being a long poke! I'm heading out Saturday to throw some rounds down range and I'll see if I can hit some steel out to 300 with my .17 :D.

Get the wind dialed in, it hits it every shot.

Last night it was more windy and gusty, harder to get the wind right, those little 17 grainers really get blown around.

Right before sunset, the wind died, I could hold dead on and hit it at will. That is what I love about 17hmr, the real trigger practice you get with them.

I had to bring the scope power down to 5x to have an aim point with the BDC reticle. Day off work today, gonna go do more shooting this afternoon :D

Power lift queen bed in the rear too. It’s super nice. Been shopping for 2 years.
