Barrel Protection?

Postby WapitiTalk1 » 05 30, 2018 •  [Post 1]

What do you rifle and ML hunters do to keep rain, snow, mud, bats ;), etc. out of your barrel while out in the sticks? I've always just put a piece of black electrical tape over the business end of the barrel. How about tiny balloons; anybody ever try those? Any other methods that have worked for you? I thought about asking Swede to just walk around with me and keep his finger on the tip of my rifle but he's probably busy doing other things this fall 8-).

i like that Solo Hunter gun sleeve. i covers the scope as well.

in the rain, if i want to rest, i just pull down the bipods and set the rifle down. the cover tents the entire rifle. i dont have to keep it with me i the tiny tent if didnt want to. hard rain, yea. i pull it under the tent. chance of rain, the cover is great.

Just electric tape. Keeps the dust out too, protects the crown.

Electrical tape here. When I was using a side lock,I had little plastic sleeves that went over the cap and nipple.Thees newer in lines are petty much sealed at the breech
For center fire,I always have one of those tube covers that Cabelas carries for covering the scope and the electrical tape on the muzzle. A good coat of Johnson's paste wax before the hunt pretty much protects every thing else

Look up "finger cots" on amazon. Super cheap, and work much better than tape.
