What do you always carry hunting that was your fathers?

Postby Jhg » 10 31, 2018 •  [Post 1]

A folding lockback trout knife because I buried his old silva compass with him in case he wanted to explore where he was, so its the knife. The steel is carbon, not that good. He did'nt get spendy on himself. But it was his and it takes an edge. I always think of him when I use it. "Hey Dad. You'd love where I am. I am hunting elk. Its dawn and cold, making a fire in the snow..."

Most times it is my father himself. Although I don't ever want to carry him. He did give me a Buck knife for my 12th birthday that is my go to knife to this day, does that count?

My dad had a pendant made out of one of his elk ivories that he wore on chain. I carry pendant in my wallet every time I go elk hunting.

His sheath knife. Always in the pack, does some work on every field dress. Thanks for a life of hunting, Dad.

My Dad was too busy trying to grub a living off of the farm so sadly we never hunted together. Hopefully the memories that my Son and I have of our lifetime of hunts together will be carried on for many generations to come.
