I Was Here

Postby Swede » 02 02, 2019 •  [Post 1]

I was here, had the campfire going and coffee on for everyone. I even had some Postum for Lefty. Hotcakes and bacon were all set but not one of you jerks showed up here for breakfast. I could just as well have slept in this Saturday. It sure is quiet here in the W.T. camp today, but the dog ate until he was stuffed. He is under the chair near the fire. He really enjoyed your breakfast. :D

Dang it, sounds like a good Bfast! I’ve been out bucking up a big ol clump of trees that fell in the last windstorm. I’m done for the day and got a good pile of 13-14” chunks piled up. They’ll be saved/staged/seasoned for October’s ML elk hunt wall tent heating. What’s for dinner tonight Swede? ;)

At the Swede home we are having chicken. Come on down if ya like, but stop by the colonel's and get another few pieces as Mrs. Swede was not expecting company. Don't worry about the side dishes or desert we have plenty.

Guess my invite got lost in the mail. Groundhog would have to be the meat of the day.

Hot chocolate would have gotten my attention,..

I was on the move early.
I realized I was running late and ended up not eating a real breakfast. But a McDonalds breakfast burrito washed down with , an orange Rockstar. Now Im paying for that mistake
My day was spent in Idaho Falls then I came home , hung a snare on the back of our 2 acre horse pasture. Some coyote has been marking less than 100 feet from my back door. and with 2 old house dogs I dont like it,..
Short days I dont like burning daylight on the computer,.

I officially put the remainder of my goose hunting gear away this evening.
Did I mention breakfast came back at me this afternoon

I’d have loved to join you Swede. I work 8 hours on Saturdays. Gotta pay for those overpriced Wyoming elk tags and the new Harley. I’ll take a rain check though. I love pancakes! Waffles even more.

Back at work here, temps -8 this morning, and double digit negatives throughout the state... but cold weather in MT never makes national news  After ling fishing til midnight Saturday, Sunday was a sleep in kind of day, with lots of coffee and logs fed into the wood stove. Pulled bbq goose sandwiches rounded out he weekend as we watched the snow drift in the yard. It looked like spring might be on the way last week, but winter has again secured it's icy grip...

It snowed here last night. I just wanted to show everyone how we made it through the blizzard of 19. I can just see David Muir broadcasting from here in Oregon about this event.

The weather news here were the cold temps last week. It hit -35F here last week...actual air temp. Windchills hit -70. My uncle was in Mexico and boarded the plane at an even 80F. He got off the plane and his car thermometer hit -38, so a 118 degree swing in temp for him over a few hours! We are supposed to get 6-8 inches of snow on top of the 2 feet we already have. Ho hum. Winter. It is what it is and keeps the riffraff out! I went out at lunch and it was -3. It felt warm.

Tigger, it appears you could handle the blizzard conditions we have suffered through here. I hear we could have another bad one tonight. We will just have to wait and see. :D

I'm with you LSB! At least we finally have some snow here, and all of the lakes have enough ice to fish safely.

Elk are down too. This group was camped in my place for a day or two. They've dropped down the canyon a mile or so since then.

Supposed to be 12 below tonight then warm up to the 20's

For the most part I do not like to cook. You characters missed a rare opportunity not being here. I mentioned on another thread I cook beans at home, but generally will do about anything to avoid cooking. I will fry or microwave something or heat a can of whatever, but rarely cook. Frying includes hotcakes and bacon. I did enjoy RJ and his friend's cooking. I make the coffee for church. I think some of those characters think God called me to that ministry. In other words if you touch it you own it at church. They all act like they don't know how to use a coffee maker.
BTW: Lefty, is that how you became a Mormon? You could not make coffee.

Was driving home from ice fishing the other day and saw a comical sight, rancher was grinding up a bale and feeding his cows in a corral, the elk must have heard the diner bell as the herd was lined out and jumping the fence into the corral one by one! It was -20 that morning.
