May 2019 Photo of the Month Contest

Postby WapitiTalk1 » 05 02, 2019 •  [Post 1]

The May 2019 Photo Theme is – "She’s a shooter”. Let’s see a pic of one of your favorite, shoot the eye out of a gnat, anti-big game weapons.

1. One photo submission allowed per month, per member (yep, MODs may enter a photo also).
2. Photo must relate to the monthly theme (or risk being disqualified).
3. Do not use photo editing software to enhance your photo. Just post the photo as it was taken with your camera, smart phone, trail cam, etc. You may have to resize some photos so they are accepted by the forum software.
4. You may use older photos you have on hand, but, do not submit a photo that has won a previous WT photo contest.
5. Any WT member may enter a photo they have taken or star in.
6. Judging – WT members will vote on monthly photo submissions.
7. Contest period will normally end the last day of the month.
8. Winner must contact WapitiTalk1 via PM and provide mailing address for prize (your prize may be sent directly from a WT sponsor or from RJ).
9. Prizes will vary from month to month.

* At the end of the year, all monthly contest winners will be automatically entered into a Photo of the Year Contest.

Remington model 700 AWR (Alaskan Wilderness Rifle)

Can shoot an eyelash off of a flea standing on top of a gnat.... at 800 yards. .300 Remington Ultra Mag. 23% more case capacity than a .300 Win Mag and 17% more than a .300 Weatherby. Topped with a Leupold Mark V 6.5-20x50 Hubble telescope. Launching 200 grain Nosler Accubonds at about 3600fps. But still.... sometimes they’re just too far ya know.

I have a hard time believing you hit anything with the barrel resting on something...

A good two point rest is key to hitting your bull. Opening the scope lens cap would also help right!

I present to you my great grandpa's Winchester Model 70 in 30-06AI, circa 1939 or so. It was passed on to me when I turned 12. I've been dealing out 165 grain Barnes X and TTSX poison pills at a humble ~2950 fps ever since.

When the title “She’s a Shooter” my daughters and wife all came to mind.

I wasn’t even thinking guns. Just last week my wife showed me some targets I had never seen before from her highschool rifle team days , perfect 10x’s I thought of my one daughter first time hunting with our new 20 gauge. We each killed our 4 geese with four shots,
And my oldest daughters story while shooting for hunter safety where she shot out the center on her target, and some young man came up and said “I wish I could shoot like”.

My middle daughter drew an any Idaho Antelope tag. The tag had an 8% draw success. We had cris- crossed the Unit for seven previous days trying to get a shot at the largest scoring buck out there.
During a heavy snow storm we eventually tracked the herd. Driving snow we could only see less than 40 yards. The herd was in front of us.
My daughter wanted to shoot. I said “no” She asked 3 more times, I told her to wait I didn’t see the big buck. Well we had actually snuck past the big buck staring at us from under 25 yards while I was looking at the herd in front of me.
We never had a reasonable chance at the big guy. We would spot him off in the distance. Close the distance and unable to find him. Jumping forward to our last day on that hunt. She was going to eat tag soup.
A bunch of does ran past. We caught up to them 2 miles further. We stepped out of the truck. I ranged the doe at 425 yards. Julie set up. Shet pulled the triggerr just a moment after I took this pic. I Glassed the antelope.
“Good shot, You don’t need to shoot”
Blood was pumping out the heart of the antelope
“ I got this dad”
BOOM
The antelope was down at the second shot.
The bullet holes ¾ apart; at the top of the heart .

Yeah Swede: Im going to brag she shoots better than her momma. A sr. in HS she killed her own buck mulie, killed 29 geese with 32 shot shells
