Hunting Clubs

Postby Swede » 11 16, 2019 •  [Post 1]

What do you think? Considering the volume of information available on the internet and the camaraderie, are hunting clubs worth the price and the bother? Would you ever join one? Other than maybe just a place to shoot, what do you get for your time and expense?

Internet forums are the new hunting clubs. If there were a local club id stay miles away. Too many idiots around.

Clubs offer different things.
When I was young I was a member of one club for the boat access boat storage and a place to warm up
Another club a place to shoot both were $15 a year.
The one club has grown and is nearly a family vacation and education club with dog training fishing camping lake access boat storage and rim fire And trap range for 4-H

A club was operating on some property nearby
One place “drink and be merry

Another a place to store your boat

One club was a bunch of good ole boys the same age HS buddies

Yet another purpose was to put guys together on good goose hunts that wanted a walk into the field shoot and go home type of guided hunt

A club that I trapped their coyotes wanted to manage the deer and deer hunting still a hunt club as the members aged they brought their kids and grandkids

Some clubs provide hunting on private property

Then there are high end clubs
The one near me provided a limited rich and famous a secluded place to get away to hunt
Another the private ground , guide and big game
One ranch I hunted upland had Oresident Ford hunting
He would slip in hunt and begone and the public never knew
Except for all the black cars keeping people out

I’ve always considered a club simply for private property acces. A place without elbow to elbow hunters is hard to come by in Pa. I never did join one though. I did belong to ine for a year though. That was for the rifle range and the 3d archery course they had.

In GA clubs in the norm. I have managed a club for the last 16 years, but we lost 3/4 of our acreage the owner sold most of his farm last year. I still have 175 AC, but it is not the same.

Trying to hunt public (WMA) land is a zoo in GA.

Lots of paper company land in GA and they lease their property. Groups will split the expense, but hard to find a like minded group to join.
