April 2020 Photo of the Month Contest

Postby WapitiTalk1 » 04 01, 2020 •  [Post 1]

The April 2020 Photo Theme is – "Freestyle”. Any outdoor hiking, hunting, fishing, trapping, etc. pic fits the bill for this month.

1. One photo submission allowed per month, per member (yep, MODs may enter a photo also).
2. Photo must relate to the monthly theme (or risk being disqualified).
3. Do not use photo editing software to enhance your photo. Just post the photo as it was taken with your camera, smart phone, trail cam, etc. You may have to resize some photos so they are accepted by the forum software; remember, photos can only be 800X600 pixels "MAX" for our forum.
4. You may use older photos you have on hand, but, do not submit a photo that has won a previous WT photo contest.
5. Any WT member may enter a photo they have taken or star in.
6. Judging – WT members will vote on monthly photo submissions.
7. Contest period will normally end the last day of the month.
8. Winner must contact WapitiTalk1 via PM and provide mailing address for prize (your prize may be sent directly from a WT sponsor or from RJ).
9. Prizes will vary from month to month.
10. All monthly winners will be automatically entered into the "photo of the year" contest.

The prize for the April 2020 contest is (to be determined).

I see this month's contest is going to get crazier than normal. Why is the girl wearing hip waders? Why isn't your 10 year old son wearing them?

Muzzy: ask your dad about where he and I met.
At that bridge: my first year in Washington I had 5 snares on a log upstream; the next day the boss pulled us off the job to check my sets. I had two cats and two coyotes off that log and nearby another cat and two coyotes. 5 snares 6 footholds . One night. 4 coyotes 3 cats. My boss thought I was the greatest trapper in the world

The following year the FS trail past that bridge, downstream side, caught 7 adult cats in 30 days. I bet even after 28 years the trees still have obvious cat scars

One of my favorite memories happened on the FS trail. My daughter was in my backpack" Dad look yotee ears"

I think we need to block Muzzyelk from this free lance photo thread,.. He's too good of a kid to be exposed to such fishing and bare hunting photos.

Occasionally a bird will slam into one of my windows as t home, and when im out driving the boat at night and have floodlights / spotlight on, at times a lot of birds will smack into the wheelhouse windows. I laugh my ass off every time. I feel sorry for the little idiots, but its still hilarious, i cant help it.

Tough tough tough. Do I pick the picture that brings back memories from long ago, or picture that will get the most votes??? Going with the dog.

Scouting trip for my friends bull tag here in WA. This was the first week of October, and we had a heck of a storm blow through the day before. We did a 15 mile loop and all hell broke loose in the last 5 miles back to the truck. Made it back to camp to find it flattened and scattered about by the 50 MPH gusts. Sometime after midnight, it blew through and got quiet. And COLD. When we left the trailhead that Sunday morning it was foggy, but as we crested this ridge, a few miles back into the wilderness area, it all blew off and we were left with this view. Saw a dandy mule deer that day, a few mountain goats, and zero elk. But many it was nice being out there. Always a plus to see the mountain with it's hat on.

But if you want me to win in May; my grandaughter has some great fishing pics from yesterday, with her dog at sunrise!!

Since it’s almost the end of the month.... my actual contest photo submission. Gotta love the edges of old burns! In photos the contrast between the burnt timber and the green regen looks very nice. It’s like life after death.
