May 2020 Photo of the Month Contest

Postby WapitiTalk1 » 05 02, 2020 •  [Post 1]

TheMay 2020 Photo Theme is – "Stuck at Home Projects”. Any photo of a home project, hobby, gear work, etc., while we're on a stay at home order during the CV pandemic fits the bill for this month.

1. One photo submission allowed per month, per member (yep, MODs may enter a photo also).
2. Photo must relate to the monthly theme (or risk being disqualified).
3. Do not use photo editing software to enhance your photo. Just post the photo as it was taken with your camera, smart phone, trail cam, etc. You may have to resize some photos so they are accepted by the forum software; remember, photos can only be 800X600 pixels "MAX" for our forum.
4. You may use older photos you have on hand, but, do not submit a photo that has won a previous WT photo contest.
5. Any WT member may enter a photo they have taken or star in.
6. Judging – WT members will vote on monthly photo submissions.
7. Contest period will normally end the last day of the month.
8. Winner must contact WapitiTalk1 via PM and provide mailing address for prize (your prize may be sent directly from a WT sponsor or from RJ).
9. Prizes will vary from month to month.
10. All monthly winners will be automatically entered into the "photo of the year" contest.

The prize for the May 2020 contest is (to be determined).

I've got some. I'll rustle up a good one. Might have an old dog in it too. I can't post the pics of what we've been working on the most while stuck at home... :D

I don’t have a puppy or a kid to force to pose to try to win photo contests  but I am trying to raise this one right. Teaching her to ride to hopefully pass her test to get her motorcycle drivers license this month.

Edit: Would I do better this month if I said she is my daughter? :D

tough to capture it all in just one picture.... and it's not a glorious pic, either.

but in the spring of 2019, we started work on a mother-in-law suite in our shop building. My shop is 2400sf. the MIL suite is 500sf (13x39).

the boy and I finished it up in late March (15 months total construction)

the real beauty of this is that the boy did AT LEAST 50% of the work on all trades.

design/layout
Framing
utility tie in's (elec, septic, water)
rough elec + plumbing
sheathing
insulation
drywall
tape & bed (least favorite)
texture
HVAC
cabinets + countertops
bathroom fixtures (shower, sink, shatter)
flooring & trim
interior finishes, paint

We only hired one contractor in the whole project, and that was just for final connections & startup of the HVAC. I didn't have the pressure tank, vacuum pump or right flaring tools. We did set the condenser + air handler, run elec, condensate drain and refrigerant lines. We just didn't do the final connection.

Travis just turned 16 years old and can honestly say "I built a home". Yes... I'm proud. :)

His incentive in all this was getting to move out there once complete, and I paid him $10/hr for all his work. Good deal for both of us. :geek:

I've got multiple projects going right now. But this is probably the coolest one I'm actively working on during quarantine.
