Should WapitiTalk.com Allow Political Topics/Threads? Poll

Postby WapitiTalk1 » 08 12, 2020 •  [Post 1]

Since I assumed ownership of our fine forum around 5-6? years ago, I have discouraged political topics/threads/discussions on Wapiti Talk. I've seen how they can turn pretty ugly on some other hunting forums; I'll leave my opinion/comments at that.

I will however, put this to a forum vote to check member consensus on this issue. Would you like to see political topics/discussions allowed on Wapiti Talk?

I agree. The other forum I frequent, probably the same one you're referring to, turned into a real cluster for awhile. I don't come here for political debate, I come here to mess with Swede.

Write in Swede for president, but lets keep the forum focused on hunting and related matters. Leave out politics.

No politics, but we could discuss conservation, youth involvment, and public land advocacy.

I think a reasonable debate can be healthy, especially seeingas it was Beendare's post that prompted this question. He is someone I'd not be afraid to talk politics with over a beer. But I don't trust the internet trolls either, so I'm voting no. Beendare, I'd be happy to discuss that with you offline once I'm back around here in a few days.

Got a question for the Boss. Could a moderator go in and delete the lock  I know Swede could go in and rewrite the text

I backed out of edit before I was tempted to make light of such a matter.

But serious: Im somewhere between neutral and No way. Ive seen too may online friendships go south.
I also sympathize with Beendare's desire to share,

Earlier today I was ready to post on FB , but know ill feelings between some would happen.

I will say time is getting close ,,. More Wapiti talking

politics is just an opportunity to disagree. funny thing is most, but not all hunters vote similarly anyhow, so no real need to argue.

as it stands, I believe every member agrees that elk hunting is a fun activity. I'm a fan of keeping it as is, and like others..... this is the "friendliest" forum I'm part of.

thanks to each of you for that. :)

Absolutely no. I am a member of a tractor forum that has an "Off Topic" board. The only thing that it has accomplished to to make enemies, both with forum members and the admins/mods. Not good!

RJ, you are going to have to pick a more controversial subject if you want an argument out of us.

I posted the above yesterday and the forum owner stepped in today and locked all of the political, etc. topics. Even members that agree were disagreeing. He finally regained control of the forum by completely prohibiting any and all such posts.

Hail no! I can’t stand politics! I’m on Facebook but I never talk politics. I don’t even read political posts. I have zero use for political opinions or debates. Yuk! :(
