Today's virtual hunt

Postby Lefty » 09 21, 2023 •  [Post 1]

I had a real plan for today.
Woke up early Stars were shining bright.
Pack was loaded with food and clothes for the day.
While listening for a bugle to come out of a basin.

And it started then sprinkle, then rain.

I drove to alocarion with cell reception, checked the weather report; rain all day.

Drove to a town had breakfast at a cafe.
filled the pickup with gas,
call my wife
then got on Wapiti talk.

So now the big question.
Wear Swede?

Where's Swede? HEY! WHERE'S SWEDE!?!?! I've been asking myself that for a couple days now.

A good day off when it's crappy out never hurt anyone. I know as a kid hunting with Dad I always appreciated a good road hunting day and dinner in town.
I hunt therefore I am. I fish therefore I lie.

I just checked the radar for you Lefty, looks like it's blowing through! Get out there for the evening hunt, they'll be active!

Late afternoon as I was heading up to camp change out into clean camo clothes The rancher stopped me.
It was probably a good thing we had some pretty heavy showers.
I used to love hunting duck and trapping in the rain.
Working construction in Washington State If you didn't work in the rain you weren't working.
But I don't hunt in the rain anymore
Last night a few different times I drove out to a ridge to listen for elk.
Off and on throughout the night I could hear the rain on the roof.

And this morning I wanted to listen for a while in the dark and glass once it got light.
And my wife sent me a text regarding a weather alert with high winds and rain.
So I'm sitting in my truck glassing some other areas with the seat heater on high.

It has rained and snowed all day.
I've tried to chase the openings and the clouds to look at elk at the lower elevations.
I've only seen moo cows.

Tomorrow afternoon my daughter granddaughter and wife are coming up. Will be hunting some relatively easy country. We're just going to go in and hunt cold
