Checking the Trail Camera - 7-27-13

Postby cnelk » 07 28, 2013 •  [Post 1]

We went camping for the weekend and one day my kids and I drove over and hiked up to check on my trail camera.
What fun stuff that is!
The camera had been setting for 5 weeks

In late June, a moose decided to come and cool down for over 30 min!
I got over 60 pics of him taking a bath...

The moose was the only visitor in June.
In July, it was mostly bears, the same moose, and a fawn deer

On our way out off the mountain, I always have my kids take turns leading the way out.
They remember the way quite nicely!

We were about 1/2 way down when suddenly we heard branches breaking just in front of us!
My son who was leading, said "BEAR!!!"

Sure enough!!!

About 30yds ahead we see a cub scurrying way up a dead tree.
Not seeing MAMA, I whistled and yelled.
Nothing...

We eased up and there MAMA was up the same tree, but not very far up

She huffed a few times at us and then she went further up the tree

We eased around the tree and took a few more pics...
I like this one :)
Then we left

I hope it all works out too Dave!
Really liking the fact that I have a bear tag in my pocket too

Im not too concerned about the lack of elk activity in the wallow area right now.
They know its there. And I have just over a month for them to be there when I am!

Very nice Brad, I too would not worry about the lack of elk activity at the wallow as of yet either, they'll show in due time! Good Luck & thanks for the great photos there!

brad did you pull your pistol when you first saw them. I would have with a cub there and then backed off after I wet myself. lol.

This was one time that the pistol was left in the truck. :)

When I realized we had treed a cub, you can damn sure bet things were a little 'jumpy' until I saw that sow had also climbed the tree.
