Vertigo

Postby REMSP10 » 09 22, 2013 •  [Post 1]

Has anyone ever beat vertigo? Being from Wisconsin I hadn't been in mountain terrain. On a recent trip to Colorado for family vacation, while hiking around The Garden of the Gods. We were sitting on the rocks at least 10 yards from the edge and just taking in the view, and then out of no where I got dissy. I have always had a issue with heights when it comes to standing on a roof or in a tree stand. I even had issues trying to drive through steep elevation (though most of that may have been in my head at this point). When coming down from 2000 ft elevation change my wife and child had the standard ear plugging issues....I did not. I was wondering if it is possible if I have an inner ear issue that could be causing my issue? Anyone ever experienced uncontrollable vertigo and learned to control or beat it? Sorry for being long winded.

I hear ya man! I had it so bad once that I had to grab on to a quakie tree and hang on just to keep from falling down. I tell you, that whole mountain was spinning in circles.

The Dr. said it was caused from my sinus putting pressure on my inner ear. I had to have sinus surgery to cure the problem because it caused temporary hearing loss in my right ear. That was a real treat! But at least it got rid of the dizzy spells and I got my hearing back on that side.

30 years ago my first ear operation caused an infection and permanent damage to my left inner ear. I had balance issues for over a year until my body acclimated to the change.

My former ear doc specialized in balance issues, so there are ear docs that can help you.

There are multiple reasons for dizziness, but a common one is fluid build up in your ear, sinuses and other interconnected passages to the ear.

You may try these things which I do when on a plane while taking off: yawn big with a huge intact of air or chew gum. Yawning big and taking out my hearing aides releases pressure built up behind the ear drum.

Another reason may have to do with your eyes, but I am not familiar with those issues.

My father has vertigo symptoms every now and then. He gets dizzy after he lies down or gets up. This makes wrenching under cars a chore when the world is spinning. He got some info from a guy who had it too. This guy gave him some exercise routines to do that clears it up. My father took them to his chiro who tried the exercises on him and after a couple times things cleared up. I guess it has something to do with the inner ear pressure. The exercises from what I can remember where lying down turrning your head different dirrections and sitting up in some order I can't remember. You might try Google and see what you can learn. It might save you a trip to the doctor or a unnecessary procedure. If the exercises don't do it I would see the doc though. Good luck.

About 8 years ago, I was having severe trouble with dizziness & ringing in my ears bad enough that I was missing quite a bit of work.wake up so bad I couldn't get out of bed.i finally got relief from a specialist that said to try Lipo Flavonoid, an over the counter supplement that is quite popular with people with these symptoms. I am a firm believer in it as my problems went away after taking it for a couple months. The specialist said it might not do a thing for me, or it might. I take 3 tabs a day & have no more issues. Might give it a try. I wouldn't wish that crap on anyone but that guy in the White House & the associates he hangs with..good luck!
