applications, my head hurts

Postby bnsafe » 01 27, 2014 •  [Post 1]

its getting close to app time. ive been looking into three states for different hunts an between trying to plan on where to best spend my money, season dates so they don't run together, best units, what animals, state regs, when my son should apply vs just me, etc my head hurts an is spinning. what are yall applying for this year.
right now im looking at a doe pronghorn hunt, rifle, in wy
mulie, bear, pronghorn an elk archery in co
rifle season elk tag for my son but poss ml
maybe deer in ne for late season.
an either a bear or turkey this spring.
obviously some of that wont happen but thinking.
last year I didn't realize an my season ended early cause I ran out of tags. wont happen this year. but, I think im spreading myself out to thin an trying to look at to much to be effective.

I hear you. Even though I don't have plans to elk hunt in 2014, I still throw my hat into some low odds draws.

App plans for 2014

AZ Elk- App Done

CO- Elk and Deer- PP's Only

WYO Elk- Random Draw and PP- Done

ND OIL Elk, Moose, Sheep-

SD Turkey- Thinking on applying

I will hunt deer within state but that license is OTC.

Easy for me. Deer and elk tags for Colorado. I'm done in 5 minutes online.

Easy also, Utah elk is all I can afford. Debating just buying a point to have a little more in the bank to make sure I can do it right. I'm sitting on 12 points (should be a "sure" draw for all but the top few units for archery) and gettin very anxious to cash in!

As far as expense- my ND app is the least painful. Residents only. $3 per animal for a total of $9 moose, sheep and elk.

In regards to apps in other states, I look at it this way. I don't play the lottery. This is my form of "lottery" and over time, I will definitely get something from some of the apps. It just may take a few years.

Easy for me this year. I should draw my LE Archery elk in Utah so putting in for it and Archery deer this year and that is all. Trying to use my time as wisely as I can this year seeings as it is the first time I'll have a Bull tag in my pocket.
