PM question

Postby Willie makit » 02 10, 2014 •  [Post 1]

Anyone know the secret to be able to PM a image? Ive tried JPG, BMP and GIF formats all say "file not allowed" when trying to attach to PM.

Willie, I have tried attaching things and could not make it work. I don't know if it can be done.

Well, good I guess, least Im not the only one??

An odd quirk since it gives you the option to add a file then systematicaly say "No, not that one", "Not that one either".

I tried PMing a simple PDF file yesterday and it wouldn't work. First time I've tried sending anything other than a link.

We'll have to have John explain how to do it, I've been sent a photo via PM before????? I personally do not know how.

Photo's can be sent if they are embedded in a thread. But the thread itself is what the recipient actually see's.

Sending files through a PM is a security risk, a liability, and is a drain on system resources. If you need to send someone a file, email it. Sorry .....please don't egg my house! :( :D

Ok no worries have to save my eggs for my Rocky Balboa training regimen. Just wondered why since it gives the option to attach a file to the PM.

Can that option be removed from the PM page to avoid future confusion?

possibly. :D

The attachment function is built into forum engine. I can turn it on and off for different functions. But removing it for PM'ing while leaving it for threads might just break it all. :o Not sure I'm willing to risk it but I can look into it. ;)
