what else do you hunt?

Postby Lefty » 03 02, 2014 •  [Post 1]

What other game do you guys chase?
Im an avid waterfowler so I have 107 more days of hunting ducks and geese after the elk season. I typically spend a a couple days looking for a lion, I have decoys but havent done a spring conservation hunt for snows I may spend a day or two deer hunting with a rifle in October . In the spring we have a 6 week bear season. Always a few days ice fishing and it seems I spend a lot of time scouting for elk either hiking or on an ATV.

I generally only hunt elk. I will shoot a buck if it comes along. I will also shoot a cougar, as they too are in season and I have a tag for them .

Besides elk hunting while home in Texas I will duck and goose hunt, white tail deer, hogs, exotic hunt(axis, fallow& Sika). Depending on travel plans will go do a spring bear hunt. November and March I like to spend most of that time chasing speckled sea trout. Of course almost any day is predator hunts.

I hunt whitetail deer after my elk hunt. I also take my son after some squirrel or rabbit once in a while. Oh and spring turkey hunting. Just around the corner. :D

Trout on a fly...my second favorite.

Mulies, whitetail occasionally. A little waterfowling, probably get a bear tag again during archery season...just in case.
Trying turkey with the bow this spring for the first time.

Whitetail, turkey, squirrel, rabbit, dove, duck, hogs. I spend most of the summer fishing speckled trout and red fish along the coast of Louisiana.

Whitetail, ducks, turkey, dove, pigs and rabbit, regularly. On occasion, quail, geese, mule deer, exotics, squirrels, varmints, and whatever else I get a chance to. Pronghorn, alligator, free range elk in Texas, axis, aoudad, bighorn, and cougar are on the list should I get the luck to draw or the time and money to do.

Bear, deer, pheasants, coyotes, and newest attempt was wolf. Elk is the only one I will take time off work for, the rest are more of an afterthought.

Just about anything that tastes good and provides adventure. Deer, javalina, waterfowl, and upland birds. Being from So, Cal., spearfishing is just a short drive from home and provides incredible adventure and we see an incredible amount of wildlife, from lobsters to whales and everything in-between. Attached are a few of my more successful underwater hunts. Fish like these can be and are regularly taken with a short swim from the beach. These are actually small to average size specimens in general.

i was in cour delaine yeasterday but wa stold rges wouldnt be out until april sometime. i ould always look online ii guess but, are you saying you have an otc spring bear season? is that also for non residents? im in ne wa and the panhandle is an easy drive. our spring bear is draw only. if i could buy an idaho license and hunt spring bear otc im in, no question! seems to me that here in washingotn, by the idaho border, the bears are a lot easier to find in spring and summer than they are in the fall. i see the spring tag here as a slam dunk fish in a barrel kind of thing. just cant get drawn for the tag.

Other than 4 units way south of you, there is an OTC spring bear season that covers nearly the entire area of Idaho that has bears. And yes it for NRs also.
