wish me luck

Postby zpd307 » 03 14, 2014 •  [Post 1]

"get lucky" half marathon in st paul t-minus 11.5 hours. wish me luck! at least I get two free beers and a slice of pizza when I finish! this winter has been brutal and the tread mill died, so I haven't been able to train as I would like....

Best of luck Gary. Beer and barley pops await you at the finish line.

May the road rise up to meet you, May the wind be ever at your back, May the sun shine warm upon your face.

I tried duct tape to avoid the big blister I got after last falls marathon. I got 3 and the bloody one was worse than last years. and they started on the edges of where the tape was.... and I didn't get a beer.... I forgot my id at the car and was too tired to walk back and get it :( and it was a balmy 18 degrees at the start.

nice! I am interested in how you do. how many have you done? this was my first official half, I technically did a half last fall when I did my first marathon... got my second marathon coming up in may, this was a good reminder to get my butt in gear so I don't kill myself again...

I've never done one or a marathon. Just thought it was good motivation to keep up my cardio during the spring. Was hoping for a long training run tomorrow but now the forecast is sleet and snow so we'll see.

good luck to you sir...... just remember its like elk hunting, very mental. like an elk, if you want it bad enough, you will find the strength to continue. even though everything tells you to quit. ;) like I said earlier, let me know how it goes.
I am pretty proud of that tat on my calf, not because of my time or the fact that I placed 8000 out of 8800, but because I wanted to quit at mile 14. I was spent and everything hurt and I was tired, but I wanted that elk at the finish line..... that was a long 12 more miles.

thank you sirs..... I was telling my wife today how much a half, full or triathlon is similar to elk hunting. she was supposed to run, her first half, with me. if you mentally tax yourself through training, it makes it easier out on the mountains. just food for thought. I have been bugging my buddy to a tri with me for the last couple of years. he just looks at me like im crazy..... funny, he looks at me the same way while we are out on the mountain.
