Memorial Day Thoughts

Postby WapitiTalk1 » 05 22, 2014 •  [Post 1]

For a lot of folks in our great nation, Memorial Day weekend is the beginning of summer.. a time to venture out on our first camping trip of the year, take the family on a drive along a beautiful East/West ocean coast shoreline, host a BBQ with friends and family, and to enjoy a long holiday weekend to unwind and relax from a busy spring at work. I remind all my fellow hunters that for many families, this weekend means a trip to the cemetery to grieve, mourn, remember, and honor fallen heroes from wars present and past. I urge you all to please keep those who have secured our way of life and very existance in this great country through the ultimate sacrifice in your thoughts and prayers. Let us never forget. This is one national holiday I "never" forget to display my American flag.

Good to hear, often get too busy to remember the things that matter.

Ive talk to most of my brothers I served with. we've reminisced over our fallen brothers and the memories we shared with them and their bravery. this is honestly one of the toughest holidays for me. I lost two very good friends I served with, was wounded the same night they passed. I hate when someone says happy memorial day. its not a happy day (for me at least). its a day of remembering those who gave all for our country.

No doubt Phantom. I always take the time to thank those who have served us. Some I talk to are still alive to say you're welcome. Some are not. I had a great time riding with some friends yesterday. One I haven't seen since grade school which was cool. But I reminded them all that without those who kept this place free we might not have had the opportunity to do what we do.

So while I'm at it... thanks to you too brother!

Sid R. was a very cool. Nobody wants to die, but he spent a lot of time for the Vet. Very fitting he passed away on Memorial weekend.
