Mt goat Trip into some SE Idaho Elk country

Postby Lefty » 06 21, 2014 •  [Post 1]

a few unusual happening on Saturdays trip. Set up the tent and fished a bit. Sometimes during the night a coyote became brave and stated barking at the tent. My wife said its right out the tent,.. "No Dear, Its on the road" thirty feet away. Were taking, our dog is barking, and coyotes barking, yelping and howling
Sort of slept in. And this duck is zig-zagging our direction. I tell my wife its a strange looking duck. I told her to ge out the camera to take a picture of " Nessie". As Nessie" got closer is it a calf moose? no its a buck mulie. My wife stood up to take a pic with her phone  the mulie changed directions and stood at the edge of the bank 80 yards away.
Stopped for a tour of Historic Chesterfield
On our way up to an acquaintances property we found the dead moose calf
On part of the ride we came across a lost goat,.. we did find sheep about 4 1/2 miles away

What was going on with the moose? Did someone shoot it?

A wood cutter went up
No idea what happened , no sign of any other struggle just a few marks in the dirt where its feet went back and forth :(

No; Im not about to touch dead wildlife without gloves.
My wife and I checked around for any other sign. This was on a private ranch and from what I could seen no one had been on the road since Tuesday.

Spoke to a fellow who mentioned this time of June a forbn that many grazing animals react to escalates solinium toxicity which tends to kill younger animals. The moose was relatively close to old mines with exposed ore
