Postby Lefty » 07 02, 2014 •  [Post 1]

Does Montana have a interactive site with ATV trails and other trails? I spent a bit of time on Montana sites and haven't found anything like
Idahos trails site
If you could post a link

Your best bet is to contact the National Forest (if thats where you want to ride) and ask for a vehicle use map.

Yep. You won't find that online. Look up a ranger station in the district you plan to hunt and ask for the map. Or... click on this link to look it up and order: http://www.nationalforestmapstore.com/

Yup, well for SW MT anyway. I've got an interact map on my website but it's private. I can however send you the directlink/passoword on the Caltopo server. I don't want to post the link on the internet (to limit traffic on the server). But I have no problem sharing with a few on this forum, so just hit me up in you're interested.

- If your particular area is not on the map, let me know and I'll add to the server. I kind of enjoy doing it, but to do the whole state is a bit overwhelming.
- Red trails = dirtbike, blue trails = ATV
- All routes are downloadable in KML and GPX format. To avoid downloading unwanted routes, select >Export >Custom then select the desired routes
- As with all Caltopo maps, you can chose your map layer and print your map with the trails. Make sure you create a PDF and not the 'Print from browser' option.

EDIT: These trails are taken from the current MVUM and georeferenced. I often find through aerial imagery that the MVUM trails is inaccurate and the trail locations are corrected. I am in no way responsible if you end up on a closed trail due to my mistake. This is very unlikely :) But I am human. To play it safe, please refer to the current MVUM or travel plan to verify the trails are currently open to travel.

Here's a screen shot of the Hebgen region
