pretty eery when you put yourselves in their shoes flying over Germany and france.... there are not a lot of room in those things! I have two brothers in town, one was a b-24 pilot, the other a b-24 navigator. one was shot down over in Germany and was liberated from a pow camp towards the end of the war...

No B-24 with it? They are both scheduled to fly into nearby Hazelton PA today for a three day visit. You can even pay for a ride in one on the last day. I had two relatives fly in B-24's. One, a co-pilot, was lost when his plane went down in the Pacific in May of 1944, never found. The other was a waist gunner. His plane went down over Europe and he survived the jump and the prison camp. If I get up there, I'll get some pics.

Michael, no b-24. the only b-24 I have seen in person was when I took pops to the eaa airshow in Oshkosh a couple of years ago.....

I always enjoy seeing these old planes. I try to imagine what it would have been like to fly in one of these planes. I got on board the USS Turner Joy, DD951, a couple weeks ago. I remember when it was tied up along side of our ship back in the mid 1960s. Good memories.

Here's the B-17 they had, along with the 24 and a P-51. Later that day it flew over my house, pretty cool!
