New bull at wallow

Postby wawhitey » 09 19, 2014 •  [Post 1]

So I went in to hunt bear at the wallow again today and the wind was wrong, so I decided to just check my cam. Well let me say that in a rare moment of common sense I have decided to stop hunting bear there, as there are plenty of other spots to hunt bear where I won't be disturbing an active wallow. Looks like the herd bull showed up. He came in a couple times in the last few days, and this morning he had a group of I think 5 or 6 cows with him. Anyway here are a few of the better pics of him. He is a bit bigger than that other 6x6 I've been watching since June! Next September is a long ways away.

This makes me mad about the bears always chewing up that camera. I wonder how many other bulls I have missed? This is the first time the bears have left the cam aimed at the wallow for more than two days!

Checked three times in three weeks

Postby Lefty » 09 21, 2014 •  [Post 4]

Opening Saturday a CO stopped by my camp. We had a nice visit. I told him this was the second time in 20 years that I had been checked in Idaho. I told him too much strange stuff happens out in the desert and he should show up more often.

Well since that time Ive had two other Conservation officers stop by my camps ( one camp an hours drive away).. The last two just visited,..both woke me from a noon siesta 8-) The last were unfamiliar with the region and just asked about the area.

Whats the deal? Three in three weeks, or should I say four in twenty years

Thats just too bad. I had no idea about the season dates for you.
Always when you dont have a tag or not in season.
A guy I called for this year had a 6x6 walk by him, grazing, at 30 yards the night before opening day. He never had an opportunity the next 12 days.....
