Moose Help in 66A

Postby idahoghost » 10 06, 2014 •  [Post 1]

Good friend drew moose in 66a. Neither of us has hunted the unit before. I'm just here to help pack.
We hunted south of McCoy Creek road, packed in 2 miles near Bald Mtn. Hunted two days there, then headed into Iowa creek and hunted the bottoms. Didn't see a single moose in three days of hard hunting. Paul's trying hard to shoot it with a bow, we just can seem to find one.

Any help would be appreciated.....

How long of a drive do you have?,.. moose hunting is easier in the snow!
I dont know the area very well, My wife use to hunt Tin Cup as a kid,.. when the Highway was a dirt ( not even gravel) road.
Check out the area around the Lake, I dont know if you can hunt moose on the refuge, but I would definitely find out. The ranchers Ive met are hunter friendly

We hunted moose glassing everything from the roads, cover lots of ground early and late.
Late season cover ground looking for fresh track
