Beautifull! Post of the year. I hope Elknut doesn't start a "photo of the year contest" and offer a prize cause you just won it. Was that Ruffed Grouse just stopping by to say hello or was he distracting you (pretty damn sneaky perching right in front of your scope and all) from shooting one of his forest friends?

Was that your gun it perched on? Ive had numerous finch type birds (and chipmunks and squirrels) hang out with/on me while im sitting under a tree ambush hunting but never a grouse. My dad did tell me about a grouse that he had to trick to get it out of the way of his truck, and it chased him down trying to follow him. Theyre not the brightest of birds but they eat good. Cool pic for sure.

I was in Quebec hunting caribou one time. I saw an arctic fox trotting across the tundra. I made some squeals like a wounded rodent. He turned on a dime and headed right to me. I have a picture of him looking right up the inside of the barrel of my 7 mag. lol

That same week some guys from NC were there. They saw a fox in camp and went to get there cameras. The one guy was taking pics and the fox ran over, picked up his camera case, and took it in his hole between the rocks never to be seen again.
