Wyoming Archery Antelope

Postby huntfishtrap247 » 01 17, 2015 •  [Post 1]

How many of you archery hunt goats in wyoming? Does it take preference points to get an archery tag like it does with a rifle (unless you buy leftover)? Or can you buy them OTC? I only have 1 preference point right now, and would like to save it for rifle in a few years if possible.

As with all big game licenses that will depend on the unit. Here is a link to the draw odds. http://wgfd.wyo.gov/web2011/Departments ... 005879.pdf

Link to odds in the Special draw: http://wgfd.wyo.gov/web2011/Departments ... 005880.pdf

You can go to this link to link on the map in the area of your choice and look at the season dates along with what type of license is required for that area.... then check the draw odds on it and see how many if any points you'd need to draw. http://wgfd.wyo.gov/web2011/hunting-1001080.aspx

Let us know what you find out.

Thanks for the reply. Since I first posted this I have learned that WY does not have separate licenses for archery/rifle. This is where I was confused, and couldnt find information on it, because it doesnt exist! I believe I will wait another year or two and build a few more points and get a decent unit. Thanks!

Arent some unit doe tags still OTC?

Some of the best hunts we've had as a family were Wyoming doe tags.
One hunt it was my daughter and I . we stalked one sleeping doe. Got a little cocky. Tried to get a pic of me 10 yards from a doe My daughter 18 yards. What a fun time! 8-)
