Spring Bear Tech

Postby Rangerz » 04 11, 2015 •  [Post 1]

Anybody have any suggestions for spring bear tactics. Buddy and I are heading up to ID. Didn't really want to do a bait permit, but will if we have to.

Other tricks? Spot and Stalk? Elk calf calls?

Thanks!

Spot & Stalk all the way! Bears are hungry & their main diet is grasses, bugs & root stuff! Glass, glass & glass some more is the key to Spring bear hunting! Where in ID?

Probably around Ketchum some where. Going up to visit an old friend from Arco and do some hunting. I am originally from Idaho Falls so looking forward to seeing Idaho again.

Wawhitey - Thanks, My buddy will be in heaven , spot and stalk is thing. Already have some remote ponds picked out. Hopefully they have water.

Glass south facing slopes and logging roads. This is where snow melt and green grass will first happen in the spring, and that's what bears are looking for.

That's pretty solid advice there.

Get the bait tags, and do a few honey burns

Have yet to see this good sized rascal during Fall or this Spring season.
He was heading for a cow carcass previous June.
