We've ran this before but have so many new members, I thought we'd do it again ;) . How did you come up with your Elknut Forum handle?

Me? I used to own a Smokercraft Phantom, 16 foot fishing boat and just grabbed that as my handle.

On Bowsite I'm Mule Power. In Montana a quality saddle mule is worth 10 times as much as a plain old horse. In other words of you had a 20 horsepower motor... it would be 100 mulepower!

Indian Summer was the name of the Montana outfitting business I owned and operated for 13 years. Plus I just love that time of year.

Mine is the exact same on another forum (a farming forum) and I like the name so decided to keep it. But I am a farmer, and love gobblin' toms! Hence Gobble---Farmer. 8-)

No I'm not a fan of the movie friday the 13th. What even worse than the movie? Missing 2 bulls on Friday the 13th. The first bull I should have never shot at, but I thought I could get a arrow through that tree. number 2 bull 10 minutes later broadside 42 yards I don't know what happened. Just choked

I shoot a rifle left handed. write left, hold a fork with either hand, and stick handle with my left in hockey.
Only seemed like old-timers labeled me that way

Name my dad gave me on one of the first hunting trips I went on with him. He wasn't too impressed with my stealthiness in the woods. Then again, I wasn't too impressed with my footwear, insulated "moon boots". I was also probably only 8 or 9 years old at the time and didn't fully understand the importance of being quiet!

After graduating college, i started my first job in the flash memory field. I was there for the "birth" of our first flash memory device, debugged it and got it out in the market. My boss put me in charge of the entire flash memory device family and he always called me Dr. Flash. And i couldn't think of anything else.

I love one thing as much as hunting and thats skiing fresh deep powder. Nothing else can compare to moving through the forest as the animals would. Being able to remain in the forest I love all year round is what grounds me. If I can find a fresh line to ski on I will, thus the name Powderhogg

I have been setting on horses, ponies since I was 9 years old. That was 60+ years ago. I Switched to mules back in the mid 80's

It was only natural when the CB craze hit that my handle was Saddlesore. It carried over to the internet then. I'm with Indian Summer.. Mules are the only way to go.

Re: Hey Mister, Where Did You Get That Handle?

Postby Lost Dog » 01 07, 2016 •  [Post 48]

One of my favorite areas to hunt is at 9000 feet elevation. Aspen forest with no roads and few trails. About 20 years ago I was out in the middle of all those "quakies" and came upon a couple of arborglyphs that caught my eye. Both trees tell about a lost dog named Sam; one of them evem has a complete sentence (I have lost my dog Sam If Found Please call Denver 420-1081).

Since finding this area we refer to the area as "Lost Dog". Been pretty successful in that area ever since and have had several bulls run right to my sons and me. We sometimes think that old Sam is still up there chasing those bulls to us.

Here are pictures of the trees. The date is 8/13/77.
