Wildllife weekend

Postby Lefty » 06 07, 2015 •  [Post 1]

Saturday my wife and I woke early to check our now fox feeding station ,.. it had always been a good bear bait location.
We wanted to ride some Montana trails where I had hunted with my Father-in-law 25 years ago. well they were closed until July 1st, when the snow is mostly gone( not this year).
With a full tank of gas and a can of gas we went on tour, and what a tour

Checking the trail cam it took took weeks but she ate 20 lbs of apples,..

The rest of the day was incredible, well over 75 mule deer. We were in mostly National Forest above 7000 feet and saw 250 plus antelope, mostly singles.The as we dropped down to more ag land still 6000 plus elevation and unbelievable 200 white-tails.
We did see some elk. but only one bull and no calves with the cows,.. or they just never got up.
Over 120 miles we ran across one Montana rancher. One Montana bear hunter, 5 vacant tents at 3 sites. the weird thing One Utah plate, 1 New York State, One Wisconsin, One Ohio and two Texas what the??????
At one time while visiting whit the Ohio plates my wife glassed a cow elk coming off a sage hill,.. with my glasses in the same view there were 5 mulies and an antelope

Man that fox is cool. Neat critters. Ive only ever seen two, and both were in suburbs. Never seen or heard of one out where i live. I think all the yotes wolves bobs and cougs must have something to do with that. Pretty surprising you have a fox on cam in the mountains in idaho.

Eight Days. visiting my brother, nieces and nephews, and a few friends, my parents and one brother have passed.

Guys I post the pics because I truly appreciate others pictures, I also know the feeling of seeing pics what I may never get to experience or live . My wife and I have picked our homes carefully( ask our realtors :lol:)Close to work, and hunting

wawhitey;
The red fox is a vixen, We have a few pics of her squating, it doesn't look like she has pups,.. but a lot of apples disappeared and we missed her for 10 days mid May.
I lived in Vancouver(Hazel Dell) We had a coyote den 110 yards from the back door. I never saw a red fox in western WA or OR.
You would be surprised how many suburb red fox there are.In the 80's I knew an old timer who trapped 150 fox a year in Chicago city limits. The town I grew up in North Mankato/Mankato have signs posted on a couple parks notifying park patrons when deer season is open. Same town Two trappers consistently trapped 50-150 raccoon each
