Finally! Back to the elk woods.

Postby WapitiTalk1 » 08 06, 2015 •  [Post 1]

Holy catfish......I finally get to get back into the elkwoods. Loaded and ready to leave early tomorrow morning for ID. Will trim some access trails, perhaps prep a tree stand tree or two (gasp), do some RZR'ing, and drop a trail cam or three (will be back thataway with bow in hand the last two weeks in SEP). It's been a long wait.

Have fun!

Did you ever find a bow case for the RZR?

Made it back. Really hated leaving. Did some epic trail maintenance, dropped three cams, and saw many of the major food groups (elk, MD, WT, moose, turkey, and grouse.). Was a good trip. High country springs and seeps are still producing H2O in this hot year. Ranger, I picked up a double bow case that I'm hoping will work on the elk mobile.

What about yellow jackets? Did you camp out? Could you eat outside? Hopefully they will get froze out before bow season, right?

Glad you had a good trip! We took a long weekend and I scouted a bit also, the area is new to me but found quite a few elk, should be good for a cow on my cow hunt this October, was a little disappointed with the quality of deer though, I'd like to find a nice 4 point and all I saw was forkies.
