5- Hour Energy!

Postby ElkNut1 » 09 30, 2015 •  [Post 1]

I used this product for the 1st time ever this year in packing out my bull with my son. It was around 4 O'clock in the afternoon & we were pretty sluggish at the time from the country already hunted & traveled. With our packs loaded with the bull we decided a little pick me up would be nice! We both had one 5 Hour Energy in our packs. We decided to both share one bottle so I swigged 1/2 & the other half. Wow, this stuff does work, you don't go crazy or anything but it sure picks up ones spirit as opposed to not taking it. It lasted about an hour 15 minutes or so, so we shared the 2nd bottle too! (grin) I will carry this for now on for such times in packing loads of meat where a bit of "encouragement" is needed! (grin)

Have others tried it?

I've tried it, and yes it can be a big pick me up. Unfortunately, the 5 hour doesn't agree with my body and is actually too much of a good thing. Even only taking 1/4-1/2 bottle at a time. However, along the same lines I do get along with the Mountain Dew Amp version, and always have some on hand when I'm really dragging it. Definitely not as convenient as 5 hour, but works just as good for me.

I always carry a few in the pack, whether its for those early mornings deep in the bush where you fought through hell to get up to a spot and wake up just plain beat before hunting. yeah it gets you out of the sack and onto animals. I mix it into my morning nalgene.. by lunch its mostly gone and I can feel its sustained effects. I always keep one for the pack out as well, nothing worse then being completely drained physically and emotionally while still having a huge plate of work left to swallow.

you might try mixing it with water. I understand the shot straight can be a stomach ache.. thats why I mix mine with water.. much better and less "amp" to carry

Yep, I like to take one in the treestand. It helps keep me alert without having to pee after a half an hour like a Red Bull.

I drink a wilderness athlete energy & focus and it definitely does the trick for me. Plus the ingredients seem on the healthy side. I drink the superman mix daily.

You probably recall me talking about that before Paul. I can't say I like the taste but they work for sure. I prefer the grape too. I would never drink one for no good reason. It's kind of an "In Case of Emergency Break Glass" thing. I always have one in my pack. If I find myself in a situation like yours, just worn out, and I have a big job ahead I'll just drink the whole bottle. Don't worry elknut you won't overdose. But your feet sure do get lighter and the truck a little closer faster.

Coffee makes me a mite nervous when I drink it, LOL... Sling Blade quote. I've tried it once and wasn't for me, had me "a mite bit nervous"... lol.

Ya, I was a bit nervous about taking the whole bottle at once so started with a 1/2 bottle, it worked great! A 1/2 at a time is good for me, that leaves the other 1/2. (grin)

They work pretty good.

As an alternative, you can carry some B vitamin pills. One of the big ingredients in 5 hour energy.

Paul, I tried some of this stuff one time as our family was leaving after a trip to Arizona back home to CO. It definitely kept me awake and energized for the first 3-4 hours, but after that it kept me awake because I was always looking for the next crapper. Did not agree with my insides, and I doubt if I will try it again. Not an experience I would want to try in the woods.

Mike

I sure use this stuff. I take a super B complex vitamin in the morning this is also a big help.
I think one of the keys to this working so well is that you don't use it all the time so when you do need it you get the maximum results. Usually never take it unless in the mountains. Does give you an edge!
