Grilled antelope

Postby Lefty » 11 18, 2015 •  [Post 1]

Saturday while driving an isolated Idaho highway the antelope were moving from the high elevation valley towards the Snake River Plain.
Earlier in the morning a pair of antelope evidently were hit by a semi. The migration must be on. 200 antelope in a 1/2 mile section of road with nearly a forth of that population standing on the road :o
I even had a small buck pop out of the ditch and cross in front of my pickup,.. I stood on the brakes, maybe even bumping the antelope at 50 mph.
Anyway a cool sight to see so many prairie racers.

I was thinking "I wonder why Lefty didn't put this in the Wild Game Processing/Cooking Forum"? I see why now ;)

Found this short VID about the migration "bridges" that were built not that many years ago to help the speed goats on their long migratory journey (I believe it's close to 160 miles).

Is that bridge in the US or Canada?
This summer we passed under a bunch of them ion the Banff Parkway.

Really neat to experience the migration.

Years back when my brother was doing depredation work They He and his partner refused to work on one ranch. The rancher put up a huge fence, a severe snowstorm and the ranch fence killed hundreds of antelope that year.
The Wyoming fish and game worked out a solution the next year

"Is that bridge in the US or Canada?" Looks like the red truck has Idaho plates.
