Went out to check a camera today and got a little distracted for a while. I love these things.

Enjoy the Huckleberries Wa. I did not see many where we scouted in Idaho and Eastern Oregon.

I have never seen a huckleberry. To me those look a lot like blueberries. Never knew they were so close in appearance.

There are different varieties. Over in western washington there is a bright red type. These ones that look like blueberries are "real" huckleberries though. ;)

Aside from what i ate while i was picking, i took all of these to my parents house. My mom wants huckleberries bad, just not quite enough to overcome her irrational fear of bears. Maybe i shouldnt have told her how many bears i got on cam in the berry patch

Yup, we have northern pacific rattlesnakes around here, but theyre not very common, and not very aggressive. I really dont worry about them at all.

Nothing better than huckleberries! Jam, jelly, syrup, on top of cold cereal, in pancakes... NOM, NOM, NOM :D. Just talked to Mrs. Wapiti; she's been on a trip to WY and up to her GF's cabin in the Yaak outside of Troy, MT. Good girls, they picked and are bringing me back a gallon of primo Yaak River drainage huckleberries!
