So let's cut the serious talk, and talk about hunting jokes.

This year when my hunting partner goes out front to set up for a bull. I'm going to switch to a lost calf call. To have him stapeded by a bunch of momma cows. Lol. I know it sounds mean but he will be ok. Lol

He might get stampeded by a herd of cows, or maybe youll get stampeded by a bear or lion, or pack of wolves! Hope youre packing iron, good luck to ya! Distress calls brought both of these in on a string last year. Id imagine a lost calf call would work magic, given how the bears and lions here seem to never be more than a step or 2 behind the elk. I should add, i only called twice last year. First time lasted 5 minutes, bear was up my ass. Second time lasted 30 minutes, coug closing in. Predators DO come into calls, and they all want to eat elk calfs.

So, I invited Lonnie to hunt with me and my crew two years ago in NW Montana. We all had a great first few day's hunt with one bull going down. On day 5 or 6, I pulled out my world famous elk chili and shared it with the group (it was time). It "hit" most all of the camp the next morning but not Lonnie. It "hit" Lonnie the next evening right after we got back to camp after a long day's hunt. I could see by the look on his face that he was close to ready to give birth to something not of this world (I could see it not only in his eyes but it was painfully evident by the rancid, dead gopher smell that was coming from his side of the campfire). When he finally stood up at around 1930 hours and announced "I'll be back in awhile", I knew he was heading down over the bank to kill some poor ground vegetation and do a severe injustice to our planet. My crew and I, being the light hearted bunch we are, came up with a plan to "sneak" down and put a good handful of the guts from the bull we shot a few days before under Lonnie's a$$ (yep, we drew straws for that mission). Lamrith drew the short straw and accepted and embraced his mission with a cool reverence to what was tasked of him. Once he got back, we sat and waited by the glowing embers of the lodge pole fire we were prodding. After many guffas and chuckles, and the time Lonnie was gone, we began to worry a bit..... but, eventually we heard Lonnie coming back up the trail. As he approached, we could hardly contain our laughter knowing what we'd done and how he may have reacted. Upon reaching the campfire and sitting down, looking extremely drained and quite sheepish, I finally asked him "Lonnie, how'd it go"? His response will never leave my memory. Lonnie didn't bat an eye and said "well, I don't know what actually caused it, perhaps your chili RJ, but I had to shat to bad that I actually shat some of my guts out........................but, with the Lord's help and sharp stick, I managed to get most of them back "in" :D.

Oh, that wasn't the kind of joke you were referring to?

While hunting somewhere in central nowhere Washington. I was slipping into a meadow. Noticed my buddy snoring in the sun .
He had just bought his pride and joy elk rifle and scope. I told him later if he wouldnt have just bought that gun I would have taken it. However the new rifle, the sacrifice his wife made I didnt think I could watch the minutes of terror if he awoke to find his baby missing.
