Today I drove 20 miles of the Montana valley road to where I shot my first bull elk 25 years ago.
Truck plates were from Alaska. Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, North Dakota, Alberta, South Dakota, Michigan and Ohio., one Montana trapper, and one truck with Montana hunters.

The years I hunted Montana, the trailhead camps were from a big family from 50 miles south in Idaho who had been hunting there for 50 years.
A couple of older fellows from Minnesota, who had there camp there each year.
And us.
Still lots of cows, and more, grizzlies.
The antelope have moved out . Lots of tundra and trumpeter swans, that was quite a sight.

But yes beatiful country.
I could live there, even in the winter.
