Postby WapitiTalk1 » 07 02, 2018 •  [Post 1]

The July 2018 Photo Theme is – "Look what I found". Pics can depict anything that you found while out scouting or hunting.

Rules:

1. One photo submission allowed per month, per member (yep, MODs may enter a photo also).
2. Photo must relate to the monthly theme (or risk being disqualified).
3. Do not use photo editing software to enhance your photo. Just post the photo as it was taken with your camera, smart phone, trail cam, etc. You may have to resize some photos so they are accepted by the forum software.
4. You may use older photos you have on hand, but, do not submit a photo that has won a previous WT photo contest.
5. Any WT member may enter a photo they have taken or star in.
6. Judging – WT members will vote on monthly photo submissions.
7. Contest period will normally end the last day of the month.
8. Winner must contact WapitiTalk1 via PM and provide mailing address for prize (your prize may be sent directly from a WT sponsor or from RJ).
9. Prizes will vary from month to month.

* At the end of the year, all monthly contest winners will be automatically entered into a Photo of the Year Contest.

We should get some dandies in the contest

The US government needs to find better things to do with our tax money than make a pile of rocks for a mile in the middle of nowhere

Elk Country just before the archery season opens in late August. The land is still green as the snows finally melted away about six weeks before.

This guy was sure proud of himself last week. I got out of the truck and he attacked my leg then chased my truck down the road.

Apparently it is a cool thing to find balloons in the wild. This was found near RJs old stomping grounds in NW MT!

I think that one of the most interesting things an elk hunter can find is a dead bull. It’s fun to try to determine the cause of death. It’s a learning experience to see where a bull, especially a big bull went when he was mortally wounded. Plus you get a souvenir to pack out and take home. Give me a day or two and I’ll dig up a picture of a nice mature bull that died in a very unusual way. When I found him the cause of death was very obvious..... bad luck!

Sort of. That and a cliff. I can’t imagine what this bull was doing in the tiny patch of trees on this rock face to begin with. Maybe he couldn’t make it back up the way he came down. In any event he fell of the edge. I think he would have survived the fall because it wasn’t really that far. But the back end of the right side of his rack got hooked on the tree. I’m sure he struggled and I’m surprised it didn’t break free but that wasn’t the case. I believe he broke his neck and died shortly thereafter and decomposed leaving a big brown/orange stain on the rock. The bull had great fronts and the side that got hung up has 7 points making him a 6 by 7. A pretty shocking scene to walk up on! I zoomed in just for a closer look but the top pic says it all and that’s my entry this month.
