Postby WapitiTalk1 » 08 01, 2018 •  [Post 1]

Looks like Indian Summer handily won the July 2018 contest with that amazing photo. Congrats Joe! I'll get a prize goodie on the way as soon as I can. Thanks to all who entered and voted. RJ

OK, time to vote. Here are the photos for July 2018. The theme for this month was "Look what I found". Please feel free to refer to the original contest thread for author explanations of these awesome photos (where they came from, what they are about, etc.). Please only vote for one photo. Thanks to all for submitting your photos, and, for taking a minute to vote!

I don't want to influence anyone, but only very intelligent people can see the beauty and benefit of finding a grassy meadow feeding area in the middle of a vast forest. I am checking to see how many very sharp eyes we have on W.T. :D

I know where there are tons of grassy meadows in the forest.

Ever been attacked by a blue grouse in your truck?

Just saying.

Grouse are nearly as common as trout in a sportsman show, kids fishing hole. If you were grouse hunting that bird picture would be showing a breast and legs frying in a pan. Grouse in a frying pan always count a lot, and are worthy of votes. Lsb, I don't know about your hitchhiker friend.
Years ago I was plot cruising (measuring trees by species for grade and volume) a timber sale unit, and had a Spotted owl follow me from plot to plot all afternoon. That was before they were protected. It startled me when I first saw it sitting on a low limb about 10 feet away, watching my every move.
At another time and place, I watched a friend reach into a Spotted owl nest to pick up a chick. One of the nearby adults flew at him, and tried to sink a few claws into his aluminum hard hat. Still they did not leave. Ever wonder why they are on the Endangered Species List?

Vote #2.

If I were grouse hunting he'd be showing me his tail feathers as he flew away and I was looking for an arrow..

I remember distinctly telling folks here, that it took some real insight to see the beauty of a feeding area in a world of timber. Guys; open your eyes.

Isn't this the same Lefty that says Dinty Moore stew is a "staple"?

That was 40 years ago that it was a staple in my pickup,..

My sharp eye spotted a Sasquatch in Swedes pic, then it was gone

Man, this voting thing could get expensive. I was saving my vote to break a tie or throw you a sympathy one. It looks like I will need to save it for myself, unless I can find a way to give you 1/2 and keep the other part for myself. Is there anyway I can just stuff the ballot box as they are accused of doing in Zimbabwe?

I just voted and still have a big goose egg for my photo. It is hard to win these contests. Too many good pictures.

Don't blame me. It is this stupid computer. It will only let me vote once. Trust me, I was going to vote for yours soon. Now all I can shoot are blanks.

Since I was planning to vote for yours, I would think the least you could do would be to vote for mine. At the very least.

Those are not weeds. The tall forbs are Mullen and there is some high quality forage available for fattening elk. Show some respect for high quality elk range. Vote #2
