Postby WapitiTalk1 » 04 01, 2019 •  [Post 1]

This is the place to share your pictures (and brief story if you wish) of your 2019 Big Game harvests. Whether they're taken with bow, rifle, muzzle loader, shotgun, hand cannon, spear, or the Five Point Exploding Heart Technique, let's see your 2019 harvests!

The previous year meat poles are all located in the Archived Tips section if you wish to view them.

Get a second tag. Dont need pics of bears to hunt bears. Just go find some ripe berries with fresh bear sign, theyll be there.

problem is that it has to be an area I can hike to and hunt from my house so I just have one area and am not sure if they're are more bears there. if I could drive I would get a second bear tag because I know a good area.

Here is my brother's bull from ND. It is hard to get a license in ND as it is resident only and once in a lifetime. But he beat the odds on the draw and got the license. He scouted a bunch this summer and this was the result. He put in a lot of hard work for this bull, this wasn't an easy hunt or pack out. He heard some bugles, followed them to a couple of raghorns that led him to some cows. Heard this guy bugling and stalked to within range and cow called to him with really no luck. But then a real cow called and that got this guys attention and he moved in a little and my brother made the shot (375 yards). I taught him everything he knows!

Shot a buck, but still can't find the Elk. I have hunted pretty hard this year, and can't figure out where they are. I still have 3 more trips planned over the next two weeks, hopefully it heats up soon. Shooting a nice buck was my main goal for the season, so I am happy either way.

Epic year in N Idaho for us! I killed mine on the 14th then we came back a week later and my buddy killed his about 300 yrds from my kill site! The bulls weren't super vocal but I think we managed to call in almost every one that gave away his location. I actually missed a really nice bull on the first night of our hunt. It seemed easy this year, I'm sure we'll be humbled next year!

Very cool, congrats on a great bull Matt! I fixed your pics for ya; reminder that our forum software (phpBB) does not like tapatalk at all (always best to upload your pics from a PC), and, max pic size is 800X600 pixels. Oh, and why were you using bear spray on your person......as a type of cover scent?

Im almost too embarrassed to show up on this page.
Maybe my wife selling the big freezer was bad luck
Andrews 2nd year elk hunting
He shot a little buck near camp At sunset
Tracked to the little buck took a pic
Then sent a pic , and my instruction about being alone in a grizzly country with dead game and he ran back to camp
I raced up to camp in the morning . Shotgun. For back up, Andrew had a full pack 50 yards up then 1/2 mile to camp
The next day at noon there was nothing left except gut afoul
I suspect it was a little black bear and bunches of ravens cleaned up even the bones hide ad legs
He had talked like he wanted to shot a black bear but even that close to camp he didn’t feel comfortable

Bit delayed posting, been working thru processing it myself. Finally got it done here in WA on Sat morning. Pretty darn happy with him specially given it is my 1st elk.

Lot of meat hung and cut the last few days while temps were favorable. All tucked away in the freezer now. Middle tray is the grind pile. The steaks and roasts vac sealed and into freezer as soon as they were cut.

Thanks RJ. Even though you were not there, it would not have happened without your assistance over the years dragging me thru the elkwoods and getting me learned up a bit on these stinky beasts. I am eternally grateful and look forward to hitting the woods with you again.

Yeah he is a great bull, and fills the freezer quite well.

Last day of the season. Spot and stalk by my brother and I. We both got him. Great teamwork, great woodsmanship (prairiesmanship?) to have 2 guys sneak up on a mature whitetail buck and doe laying in the grass.

Bummed out he busted his left g4 completely off sometime in the last few days. Oh well, battle wound. Still wasnt gonna let him walk after 56 days hunting this buck between last year and this year.

I had a successful elk hunt this season. I found this young lady staring me down in the snow-covered grounds and dark timbers of Pike National Forest. Due to fallen timber and bushes between us, I could only see her head/neck so I delivered a fatal shot to her skull. Needless to say, she dropped right there.

No pictures to add, but had a great snowstorm hunt Friday, glassed some elk headed into timber in between snow squalls, got on their tracks, and was able to sneak within 50 yards and shoot a cow in her bed. Thankful for meat in the freezer! Also was able to get both of my youngest their first bucks this fall. All in all a good season for us.

Didnt know prices were that high for yotes. A little late in the year to start stacking em up now. Wont be long before pelts start to go downhill. Maybe next year ill try to get a good stack of em and case skin em.

Nephew Joes Wyoming hound cat. He’s gonna do a write up on it but LSS, shot it out of tree, it hit the ground and came straight at him. Took a few shots with a 45/70 to stop it for good. Big old nasty cat.

Figured now was a good time to get everyone's blood pumping for the elkwoods in 2020.

Finally got this guy back from the taxi a week ago (my 2019 WA rifle elk). Fits his new home well. He has been some gooood eating so far.
