Lady Luck finally shows up.

Postby lamrith » 08 06, 2019 •  [Post 1]

I have been wandering the elk woods with a few folks on here for a few years and not been lucky enough to draw on an elk just yet.
Each year I put in for draws like everyone else. I was completely skunked out on WA and AZ draws this year. No deer or elk draws.

However I finally struck paydirt, I buy tickets for this each year and I received a phone call lastnight and I have been honored to be drawn for the Dave Sherwood Memorial Scholarship Hunt Raffle this year!!
I have to put a thank you out to BrownGoingDown on Huntwa for posting this great charity on the forums many years ago and continually promoting it over the years.

For those that do not know this raffle is a scholarship fund that helps students @ Centralia College with financial aid in Dave Sherwood's name. So besides having a great prize it helps students in need and I recommend everyone buy a few tickets next year.

I do not have any real details on it beyond what is on the flier, 2 day Modern Firearm hunt on Transalta Mine site in Centralia, WA. Should be a great hunt in Nov and I am really excited for it!

I will update this thread as the hunt goes or there are any changes. Not really a hunt I can scout for given it is private property and a operating mine site under reclamation right now. Good news though is that they have a few people onsite that keep an eye on the Elk herd and one of them is supposed to be my guide/escort when I am onsite.

Congratulations buddy. I have high hopes for you. Time to look up recipes and call the taxidermist.
