WW Hunting Knife Giveaway. Winner!

Postby WapitiTalk1 » 11 21, 2019 •  [Post 1]

Up for grabs is a WW hand made hunting knife (made in Craig, CO). Yes, free for some lucky dog. “What do I have to do to enter?” I’m glad you asked. Any WapitiTalk member in good standing, with at least 10 posts can enter. Just reply to this thread with “I’m in” and tell us what your 2020 hunts plans are. That’s it...well who’s in (and what are your 2020 hunt plans)?

A huge thanks to Bill/>—--WW——>>>, for providing one of his awesome knives for the contest!

I'm in.
I plan buy an Oregon bow elk and bow deer tag plus a cougar and bear tag. Probably all of my hunting will be the early (late August- September) season. If it looks workable I might try a rifle deer tag in lieu of the bow tag.

RJ I have a couple of questions. #1 Am I still in good standing? If not erase my very confidential plans. I would sure hate to have the renegades on this site copying me. #2 Did you break the Thingamagig? I knew you had it all messed up as my number never showed up. I think it has to be something like an old typewriter with certain letters missing. MINE!

If the Thingamagig is still fixable I will take 246. Of coarse I will change my number later as some jerk (I am thinking Whitey or Tigger) is going to plant themselves one over at 247.

I am in. 247 does have a nice ring to it now that you mention it Swede!

My plans are to bring my twin 12-year old boys on their first ever western hunt! I am pretty pumped to have them chase antelope with me. Something I have been wanting to do since I seen them little rascals for the first time when they each weighed about 4 pounds! I am most excited about this hunt. Unfortunately, my daughter will not be able to join us as she is going on a missions trip to Mexico with our church.

I will also do our archery elk hunt, provided we can get a license somewhere. We will hunt ducks, geese, and pheasants around home and of course deer. Experiencing all of the "firsts" for my kids has been awesome. Watching them get hooked on hunting has been even better. So for 2020, I hope to add to that list of firsts for them!

I'm in. Muzzle loader season for a cow elk and then either archery hunt with a crossbow or a rifle hunt 1st season here in Colorado. I have to wait for the Big Game brochure to come out in February to see how bad CPW screwed up the season. There is new 5 year plan starting in 2020. Might be helping another young fellow that just moved here to get started elk hunting.

I need that knife. Mine is up on some mountain along with my Leatherman that came off my belt during ML season this past season.

RJ, you can send me the thingamagig for repair and restoration. It will come back to you just perfect, with all numbers being the same. I will keep that one and only number very secret. Then I will post only once per contest. That should be an improvement in itself.

I'm in. Right now researching archery draw units in Colorado that my son's and I can draw with our few points for next fall. Then at age 61 I'll be done with the point game in Colorado. But will give it a shot in Wyoming in a couple years I hope. Also will be whitetail hunting in Nebraska. Great looking knife!

Where is that trouble maker Lefty? I think the knucklehead may be trying to outsmart a random number contest. Lefty, if you are paying attention, the contest is a random draw. I think there may be some more problem kids out there too that want to flood the system on the last day to make sure I do not win this thing. We will see if it works.

I'm in. 2020 will see me chasing hogs and whitetail in Texas, and a trip to MT for either deer or elk, or possibly both. Although I might go back to CO for mule deer instead... Decisions, decisions...

WW, I have something great for you. My best honey hole is right where Whitey hunts. He will lead you to a great stand location next November if you just wait at the entrance to his driveway. Get there early as he leaves while it is still dark. If he does not have a great stand already set up for you to sit in, just take your doe call and hang out near his stand. Whitey will have you a good comfortable stand before the next morning. Don't bother to call Whitey in advance. He enjoys a surprise. Good luck and thanks in advance for the knife.

WW, never mind waiting for Whitey at the end of his driveway. When you see the light come on in his house in the morning, just drive right on in. He will have you a great bacon, toast, hash-browns and eggs breakfast with fresh hot coffee in just a few minutes. Pay no attention to his grumbling. It is just the way of his disposition in the morning. He actually likes being surprised when a friend shows up unannounced, so never call ahead.

Don't worry WW. That is just Whitey's way of showing his appreciation for anyone wanting to hunt with him. He says that stuff even to his mom. Bring your own coffee if you are concerned he is not using the best Starbucks has to offer.

OK, I didn't use the number randomizer thingamajig to choose the winner for this WT contest. We had 18 entries, ranging from post # 2 to post #47. If I used the number randomizer, it would have given a few entries a small advantage (get closest to the number without going over). Instead, I went old school and created a slip of paper for each entry, showing their entry number. Into a hat (err, bowl) the entry numbers went and I had the lovely Mrs. Wapiti draw a number out of the bowl.

The lucky winner of this really nice hunting knife is.................. muzzyelk, post #21! Congrats on winning mister, send me your mailing digits and I'll get your knife on the way.

Again, a HUGE thank you to >>>---WW---> (Bill Kuehl/WW Custom Knives) for providing one of the coolest contest prizes ever!

Congratulations Muzzyelk! Your new knife is hi-carbon steel. So keep it clean and a lite coat of oil every once in awhile and it should last a lifetime. I give mine a few licks on a leather strop after every use and so far have never had to resharpen it. Let us all know how you like it!

Yep, just a hobby. But I'm to the point that I need to make a little bit to help pay for materials and equipment to support the hobby.
